Stumberg Lane Extension Phase 2
Project Overview:This project is one of the two phases of the overall Stumberg Extension Project. The Stumberg Extension project will provide a connection from Pecue Lane to Airline Highway and then to Jefferson Highway when both Phases are completed. Phase 2 starts 1400 ft north of Airline Highway and ends at Jefferson Highway. Phase 2 also includes minor widening work on Jefferson Highway and the existing north leg of Stumberg Extension. Phase 2 also includes a new bridge over Claycut Bayou. Phase 2 will be constructed by using two different construction bid packages. The first bid package (Phase 2A) of Phase 2 will continue where Phase 1 ended and then extend the roadway to Jefferson Highway. The Phase 2A bid package will include the proposed bridge over Claycut Bayou. The Phase 2B package will include all remaining work on Jefferson Highway. An improved north-south connection extending from Perkins Road to Coursey Boulevard will be provided when both phases of the Stumberg Extension project and other Green Light Plan projects are completed.

Project Progress: All of the right of way that is necessary to start construction for the Phase 2A bid package has been acquired. (See Detailed Description for information about the two separate construction bid packages.) The contractor has completed clearing Phase 2A earthwork on both sides of the proposed bridge. The contractor has started constructing the bridge. The Phase 2B 95% plans review phase is complete and is under review.
Project Look Ahead: The Phase 2A contractor will continue with construction on the bridge. The Design Engineer will address review comments that came from the 95% Phase 2B plan review process and prepare final plans.
