Green Light Plan Program
The Green Light Plan is a comprehensive transportation program to improve roadway infrastructure and citizen safety throughout East Baton Rouge Parish. On October 15, 2005 the citizens of East Baton Rouge Parish voted and passed an extension to the current one-half of one percent (1/2%) sales and use tax for local street and roadway improvements. 70% of the proceeds will be used for transportation improvements including the construction of new roads, widening of existing roads, intersection improvements and upgrades to traffic signalization and synchronization. Extending and bonding the 70% transportation improvement component of the tax will allow the city-parish to complete road projects faster and at a lower overall cost.

| June 2005 | Metro Council unanimously approved the Green Light Plan and voted to submit the plan to the voters. |
| October 2005 | Citizens vote to extend the current Sales and Use Tax twenty-three (23) years dedicated to The Green Light Plan. |
| March 2006 | CSRS, Inc. receives the Notice to Proceed as the Green Light Plan program management team. |
| September 2006 | Project Concepts, Prioritizations and Work Program are approved by Metro Council. |
| December 2006 | East Baton Rouge Selection Board selects engineers for the Green Light Plan projects. |
| March 2007 | Design begins on 17 Green Light Plan projects. |
| October 2007 | Construction begins on Veterans Memorial Boulevard Extension. |
| January 2008 | Construction begins on Burbank Drive – Segment 1 and Segment 2. |
| February 2008 | Bids taken on N. Harrell’s Ferry Road. |
| February 2008 | Right of Way Maps are completed for 13 Green Light Plan projects. |
| March 2008 | Contract awarded to Industrial Enterprises, Inc. for N. Harrell’s Ferry Road project with NTP anticipated for May 26, 2008. |
| April 2008 | Bids taken on Downtown Signalization and Synchronization Project. |
| May 2008 | Groundbreaking for N. Harrell’s Ferry Road. |
| June 2008 | NTP Issued for the Downtown Signalization and Synchronization Project. |
| June 2008 | NTP Issued for the Downtown Signalization and Synchronization Project. |
| June 2008 | Bids taken on Coursey at Sherwood Forest. |
| June 2008 | Lobdell Improvements advertised for contractor bids. |
| July 2008 | Bids taken on Lobdell Improvements. |
| July 2008 | Groundbreaking for Downtown Signalization and Synchronization Project. |
| August 2008 | Highland Road advertised for contractor bids. |
| September 2008 | Staring Lane Extension advertised for contractor bids. |
